From the Real to the Absurd

from Thursday 2nd October 2025

First term (October- December)
Approaching theatrial Realism trhough close textual analysis and detailed character building. Thnk Stanislavski on speed. This module concludes with a showcase of scenes studied in front of an invited audience

Second term (January- June)
Making the leap into Theatre of The Absurd, particularly late 20th Century Absurdism. The course culminates in two semi-public performances.

The Empty Space

Moving into Devised Theatre

from Tuesday 7th October 2025

First term (October- March)
Exploring starting points- theatrical and non theatrical text, images, music, space, spectator relationships. This module concludes with an experimental show and share of work developed in front of an invited audience.

Second term (April- June)
Moving towards a performance by shaping a narrative or non-narrative structure .The course culminates in two semi-public scratch performances.

The David Thomas Prize

In memory of our dear David, this year we are inaugurating the David Thomas Prize. The winner will be awarded a year's tuition on one of our training courses. The successful recipient will show outstanding potential as a performer, and financial need will also be considered.
